Feed a Brain Strawberry Beet Smoothie
Feed a Brain Strawberry Beet Smoothie
This Strawberry Beet Smoothie is a quick and easy way you can feed your brain with minimal prep to start your day. Bear in mind, you can replace ingredients that you may not have or may not like very easily using the Feed a Brain Essential Guides.
You can easily blend up a mix of ingredients from the FaB Meal Maker Guide to make a quick meal on-the-go. If you choose meat, then I recommend making a savory soup, but eggs can go in a sweet smoothie or a savory soup!
Ingredients:
1/2 of a beet
1 handful of spring mix
3-5 eggs (depending on caloric needs and protein requirements)
2 spears of asparagus (remove the bottom part by snapping it off)
1 tbsp of Now Brand Sunflower Liquid Lecithin
4 scoops of Micro Ingredients Multi-Collagen
1/2 cup of strawberries
Add water and ice until you reach the thickness you desire
Instructions:
Simply add the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. That’s all there is to it! You can now enjoy a Feed a Brain meal on-the-go. If you prefer blueberries, then you can swap out the strawberries and add those instead. You could also do kale instead of asparagus. Get creative and use the Meal Maker Guide to come up with new recipes daily!
Benefits:
Beets, strawberries, and spring mix are both chock full of antioxidants! They also help to optimize blood flow so your brain gets the oxygen and nutrients that it needs. Asparagus is a sulfur-rich vegetable that helps with inflammation and immune system function. Eggs also contain sulfur, but they are also a powerhouse of omega-3 fatty acids, choline, amino acids, and a host of B vitamins that help metabolism.
Collagen is something I talk about at length because of its myriad benefits! Collagen not only feeds our gut microbes and heals the gut lining, but it also makes up our skin, joints, and blood vessels. This Multi-Collagen has type I, II, III, V, and X collagen to rebuild all of these structures and more. It also has vitamin C, biotin, and hyaluronic acid to help support collagen synthesis. If your body is inflamed, then it won’t make collagen! That’s why it takes more to support collagen synthesis, than just taking a collagen protein powder.
Sunflower Lecithin contains phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylserine (PS) which make up important parts of our neurons like myelin. They can also be converted into other compounds like acetycholine that help with focus, memory, and learning. PC and PS can also be converted into many other beneficial compounds like SAMe (S-adenosyl-methionine) that help regulate neurotransmitter responsible for sleep, mood, focus, and relaxation. I prefer sunflower lecithin ovre soy lecithin because the vast majority of soy is genetically modified. The glyphosate residues found in genetically modified foods can cause problems for our gut microbiome so its best to avoid them altogether.
