Welcome to Feed a Brain
I created this website to teach you how to use functional nutrition to optimize brain function and repair, but before we get to that, let me tell you a bit about my story…
Once upon a time, I was a 27 year old musician and entrepreneur in New York City.
I had built a recording studio in my ground-floor duplex and was renting sound equipment for events throughout the 5 boroughs until one day my life changed forever…
I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that left me in a coma with less than a 10% chance of ever waking up.
Miraculously, I emerged from a minimally conscious state, but was unable to walk, talk, eat, or do anything on my own.
I was in a wheelchair and unable to move the left side of my body much less sing or play guitar.
Things looked bleak, and I swore if I ever got better that I would share everything I had learned with as many people as possible.
The Turning Point:
After being discharged from the hospital, I was steered toward a functional nutrition protocol.
I started to regain some clarity and began to research like my life depended on it…
Because it did!
After months of being in a wheelchair, I was finally able to take my first steps again.
Within a few years of functional nutrition techniques: using food-as-medicine, healing my digestion, and focusing on my gut/brain axis… in conjunction with targeted therapies, I was not only singing and playing guitar live again, but I was doing flips off a diving board!
I went from a 90% chance of remaining in a persistent vegetative state to recovering beyond what anyone thought was possible, and, after my life being saved in the hospital (which I am beyond grateful for), I owe much of the restoration of my health to the healing power of functional nutrition.
Paying It Forward
I continued online college courses in neurology, physiology, and nutrition while also training in Functional Nutrition with Andrea Nakayama, an internationally recognized educator, speaker, and the founder of the Functional Nutrition Alliance.
I have also received training in Functional Neurology from Dr. Datis Kharrazian DHSc, DC, MS.
To pay it forward, I continue to create the resources that I wish I had throughout my recovery, which is why I wrote How to Feed a Brain: Nutrition for Optimal Brain Function and Repair. I wrote this book to be the resource that I wish I had throughout my recovery. But I want this information to be accessible to everyone and easy to implement.
That’s why I also made easy-to-use color handouts to show you precisely how to feed your brain.
I’ve devoted my life to sharing everything that helped me recover like I promised so if you want to know what I did…
