Fluoride: The Science Vs The Hype
The Fluoride: What Does the Science Say?
There is a waging war across the internet about fluoride and whether it helps your teeth or whether it is a poison. The true answer if we examine the data is both.
The first noticed examples of issues caused by excess fluoride in the United States was in Colorado. Certain wells had too much fluoride in them and it caused issues with the local’s teeth.
“Colorado Brown Stain”
They called it “Colorado Brown Stain”. This is when brown or feathery white stains occur on the teeth.
This is where the fluoride has replaced the calcium in the teeth. These areas are more brittle and so pitting in the enamel can occur.
This process is called dental fluorosis in today’s scientific language. The upside of this fluorosis is that the teeth infused with fluoride are less likely to decay which means that fluoride does actually reduce tooth decay.
The downside is that not only can your teeth become stained, but holes can form in them because they break more easily.
The Hype About Fluoride
On the internet, you will find all sorts of information about fluoride from it being used at Auschwitz to keep the prisoners weak and complacent, to the idea that Prozac is a fluoride compound, or that fluoride is in the water to “calcify your pineal gland”.
How do we know what is true, and what is merely conspiracy theory. There is no proof that the Nazi’s used fluoride in the death camps or the ghettoes. Prozac or fluoxetine does contain fluoride in its chemistry.
What About Calcifying The Pineal Gland?
It is a build up of many different kinds of toxins that can cause calcification in our bodies in many different areas. It is true that we have seen completely calcified pineal glands on brain scans as well as joints calcified by osteoarthritis and even entire spines.
It is usually a build up of many different toxins in certain areas of the body where there has been little to no circulation for long periods of time. There are some things that can help dissolve some these calcifications even in the stones in the liver and kidneys.
These things are fulvic acid, humic acid, citric acid, malic acid, and there even a few others that may require medical supervision like EDTA (ethylene diamine tetracetic acid), and DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) that can help to remove these stagnant build up of free calcium.
What About The Rat Poison Thing?
Sodium fluoride is ONE of the main ingredients in rat poison. It is one of nature’s most toxic ionic molecules, but it is not what is used in water although some companies still put sodium fluoride in their products like toothpaste and mouthwash.
In water they use hydrofluosilicic acid which is a kind of industrial waste that our government insists we consume in safe the specific doses that we drink in our water to help our teeth from decaying.
The rates of dental fluorosis has increased by a statistically significant amount after mass fluoridation. The incidence of cavities have gone down, but is this simply from the fluorosis? Below are the Material Safety Data Sheets of what they put in our water.
Buy Filtered Water or Spring Water
Even if our government were to prove conclusively that fluoride in these doses were completely safe over a very long period of time, I would still have a water filter that filtered out the hazardous waste added to my water.
It is a by-product of chemical fertilizer industries that is so hazardous that they have to collect in evaporation tools because it is illegal to dump into the ground water, but it can be added into city water for a few limited quantities.
Those Who Would Benefit Most From Clean Water Often Can’t Get It
I am choosing clean water as close to nature provides as I can. My concern is for those who must drink the city tap water because they cannot afford fancy filters and water brands, and the unforeseen health effects that can bring to them.
Not everyone has a Whole Foods with “alkaline artesian water with a 8.75 pH”, or “fresh-pressed, organic green juice”, and many people in most urban or industrial area full of toxins, residents only have convenience stores with only bottled water that is also fluoridated.
Just in case you thought the comic was alarmist and cute…
What Are the Known Effects of Fluoride?
Besides dental fluorosis, it is believed that it could also replace the calcium in our bones over time since it does that over time. this may lead to more brittle bones in the long run.
It is also known that fluoride and other non-biological halogens like chlorine (also from unfiltered water) and bromine (usually found in BFR’s used in pillows and matresses) can clog the the iodine receptors in our cells which could affect our thyroid having various metabolic effects.
According to the MSDS sheets above, we do not yet know if it is connected to cancer or birth defects.
